Our second contender today is Zita of Tuscany, a 13th century servant who transformed her daily chores into acts of devotion. This woman wasn’t about grand gestures or theological debates; she was about quiet faithfulness and finding God in the everyday.
Zita started working as a servant at the age of twelve and spent her entire life in service to the Fatinelli family in Lucca, Italy. She wasn’t just a housekeeper; she was a model of diligence, obedience, and unwavering faith. She treated her work as a sacred calling, performing each task with care and devotion.
Legend has it that she was so dedicated to her duties that she would sometimes neglect her own needs, but God rewarded her faithfulness.
One story tells of how she was caught giving bread to the poor, and when her master checked her apron, he found it filled with flowers.
